The Fluke 365 Detachable Jaw True-RMS AC/DC Clamp Meter is a new, innovative clamp meter, offering a thin, small jaw design that makes it easy to get around tightly packed wires. The 365 is a rugged meter perfect for jobs where access to wires is difficult. The meter’s thin, small jaw is detachable with a flexible lead, which makes gaining access to wires and viewing the display easier than ever. Features a 200 A ac and dc current measurement with detachable jaw. Perform 600 V ac and dc voltage measurements, while detachable jaw makes accessing wires and viewing the display easier. Built in flashlight/torch allows for easy illumination and identification of wires. Compact design fits in your hand and can be used while wearing protective equipment. State of the art signal processing allows for use in noisy electrical environments while providing stable readings. Large, easy to read backlight display automatically sets the correct measurement range so you do not need to change the switch positions while taking a measurement. The true-rms ac/dc clamp meter includes a coated instruction card, safety information sheet, soft carrying case, TL75 test leads, magnetic hanging strap and five AA Alkaline batteries. The Fluke 365 has a safety conformance with IEC/EN 61010-1:2001, CAT III 600 V. Fluke Corporation is the world leader in the manufacture, distribution and service of electronic test tools and software. From industrial electronic installation, maintenance and service, to calibration and quality control, Fluke tools help keep business and industry around the globe up and running.

This is a very handy, basic meter and so far has met nearly all my expectations. The clamp is big enough to get around (at least) a 3/0 feed wire but small enough for tight spaces. It's range is 0-200A and 600V (AC/DC). The removable clamp is really handy for getting into tight spaces and is designed to reject spurious signals from nearby wires - even when dealing with a jumbled mess (as in, "This Old House" wiring). I believe in the brand - a Fluke's never failed me and I believe I can trust its accuracy and safety. Always a doubt in my mind when using cheapo brands.A couple of things I thought were pretty good: A) The cord's usable length is just under 36" and rolls up nicely on its spool in the back. B) Clamp always goes back in properly and fits snugly. C) the spotlight is bright and wide and very handy for working with the power off. D) the backlight is fine - nothing special, good or bad. E) Auto-off is 15 minutes (kills the spotlight and backlight, of course, too). F) Comes with a generously sized nylon pouch so it's easy to stow. G) Like most Flukes, there's a webbed magnetic strap that works very well. The magnet is plenty strong and will not slip while the meter is hanging from it. H) Instead of averaging (like used on most cheap meters) this is true RMS. I) I saw absolutely no spurious signals or "leakage" from nearby live wires. This concern was actually why I bought a Fluke, and I was not disappointed.A couple of things I'll observe that might bug others: A) It's not a micro-ammeter. Accuracy is 100 milliamps, which is fine for my needs. B) It doesn't have a Min/Max register, which I really would have liked - hence only 4 stars. Fluke offers something like 18 clamp meters ranging from under $100 to $2000 retail. So, this is in their mid-low range, however it's the only clamp meter in their line that has a detachable clamp. So, if you need Min/Max and Detachable, you need another brand. They do make "accessory" current clamps - just the clamp and lead wire that you plugs into your existing ammeter, but these crazy things cost as much as the 365! C) The manual says to keep the strap's magnet away from the clamp. Sensible enough. But I wonder if most folks will catch that advice - once the strap is attached, the magnet aligns perfectly with the nose of the clamp. Might have considered a longer or shorter strap to make it more idiot proof... D) like most of the Fluke clamp meters I looked at Ohmmeter range is 0-6000 ohms. Found that a little odd, but not something I'll need (have a conventional multimeter that will handle megaohms if that's even needed).I considered a wide range of other products and meter types. Being my first clamp meter, I find it extremely versatile... Now measuring current is so simple - and safe. I like the product a lot, but do wish it had the Min/Max register. Ultimately it's doing its job and I'm happy with the purchase. Would recommend to a friend, with caveat.Only has one decimal accuracy. My $40 Southwire has two.The plastic body breaks on the jaw insert.I wrote to the Manufacturer FLUKE, and they said it is an old model not anymore supported. After that I bought a second unit from the latest model, and it aldo broke on the same spot.Probably they updated other parts of the device; but this weakness, continues on the new models. This has been a great investment. One I should’ve splurged on long ago. I kept putting off this buy, hoping for a price cut. The wait was worth it, even though the price was no grand thing. I knew Fluke was good stuff, perhaps the epitomy of the product type. But, holy cow, this machine is heads above the other brands, like my oldy-but-“trusty” Radio Shack meters. Even the rotary switch is super quality... you can just tell by the feel of how the knob turns. But the large screen is sure nice on older eyes, and it’s obviously accurate. The leads and tips/handles are primo. My long wait for a unique price may have been relatively fruitless, but as long as I stubbornly stuck with my older equipment I was tolerating cumbersome and too-often failed equipment. If you want reliability, absolute reliability, you’re gonna have to bite the bullet and put out.I use this to check current draw on outdoor lighting and other projects that I work on. My one complaint is the clamp does not stay locked in to the body of the tester. Just seems like they should have made that snap in a little tighter. Its not a big deal though and does not affect the use of the tester. I have not had any issues with the tester and it seems accurate. The test readings between my multimeter and this seem to be very close. I am happy with the purchase. It is so much easier to take current readings with this tester.I have two of these. One has served me well for years and continues to do so. Bought a second to keep in 2nd tool bag and ~1 year later, maybe a dozen uses, and the clamp hinge breaks apart. This was almost a brand-new meter, lived its whole life in a case, never dropped, barely used, factory protector not even off the screen. Defect or not, the clamp is not a "user replaceable part" and Fluke does not sell it. There is no technical reason - the clamp and cable just come out, you don't even need to tools! The manual even refers to the clamp *cable* as being a wear-item and replaceable, but neither the cable or the clamp assembly is listed as a part. Perhaps you can send them in for repair, but contacting Fluke's repair center is difficult to contact and, judging by the number of broken meters on ebay, probably not cost-effective.Very disappointing product and customer experience from a company that otherwise leads the multimeter field.Had a problem with first meter. A new meter was immediately sent the next day before I had even sent the original one back. New meter works great. Nice quality build that you would expect from Fluke. I particularly like the detachable amp clamp. Makes taking measurements much easier.I initially got a GTC CM100 1 mA to 100 Amps AC/DC Low Current Clamp Meter to troubleshoot a car with frequent battery failures, since my 25-year-old Fluke 77 & newer Milwaukee amp clamps are not able to read D/C amps. But due to the sample I received being less than satisfactory (see Amazon review for details), I chose to return it & ordered this one. All features work well on the Fluke, and the detachable jaw is a huge bonus under the hood of a car - or in a Service Entry box & many other locations. No complaints so far, though it's too soon to assess long-term reliability. I am deducting 1 star for the "made in China" factor, as in my experience that all too often means lower quality control. If you disagree, feel free to add that star back.
